A MESSAGE FROM REBECCA BACON, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Dear Community Partners,

As we prepare for a new fiscal year, the Children’s Board is embracing change with one goal in mind, making it easier for organizations to partner with us so together we can better serve children and families.

Through community feedback and the leadership of our Board of Directors, we have identified six service priorities that will guide our new funding investments: summer camp expansion, accreditation for childcare, support for teens, mental health supports, early learning childcare supports and services for children with varying abilities. These priority areas provide a framework to address critical needs while ensuring services are inclusive, accessible, and aligned with the experiences of Hillsborough County’s children and families.

Over the summer, in addition to our existing enhancement grants and summer passports, we increased camp capacity by funding 732 camp slots across seven different partners – a significant step toward providing safe and enriching opportunities for children. We have also been meeting with providers, nonprofits, and agencies, particularly those working with older youth, to strengthen connections and better understand emerging challenges.

We are equally excited about progress made to support nonprofits. We have streamlined our grant process and have fully launched a web-based grant application system, SurveyMonkey Apply. This makes the process of applying for Children’s Board funding more accessible and user-friendly.

Looking ahead, we are investing in new funding allocations that reflect both immediate needs and long-term priorities, including water safety, mentoring, a teen Youth Council, Pathways to Wellness, and childcare accreditation.

We are excited about the year ahead and remain committed to listening, adapting, and working collaboratively. Together, with your partnership, we are building a stronger future for every child in our community. Thank you for continuing to walk alongside us in this important work.

Rebecca
